Work Permits
per the youth employment standards act (yesa) public act 90 of 1978 Minors under the age of 18 are required to have a work permit prior to starting work.
Steps to Complete a Work Permit
- After obtaining a blank copy of either the CA-6 or CA-7 work permit, the student will fill out Section I.
- The permit will then be given to the employer so they may complete Section II.
- After Sections I and II have been fully completed, the student will return the form to their school office or to the E.J. McClendon Educational Center, along with a form of identification with their date of birth, to be signed and filed.
- Students will take the original work permit back to their employer for their records, and a copy will be added to the student's record.
Sections I and II MUST be completed prior to bringing the permit in so Section III may be completed.
The student and a form of ID MUST be present for Section III to be completed.
Acceptable forms of ID include a driver's license or permit, birth certificate, hospital record of birth, school record, certificate of arrival in the U.S., or passport.
