PCEP Figure Skating Team Shines at State Championships

In its first season under new head coach Julie O’ Connor, the P-CEP figure skating team continued its tradition of excellence on the ice recently with an impressive showing at the Michigan High School Figure Skating state championships at Novi Ice Arena. 

During the championships’ individual competitions, PCEP skaters took to the ice 28 times—an outstanding accomplishment that highlights the depth and talent of the program. The team earned a total of 162 points, tying for second place overall in individual points and finishing just three points shy of finishing first in the 34-team field. Five Park skaters were crowned state champions in their respective divisions.

P-CEP’s state champions include: 

• Kendall Amick – Aspire 1 division
• Julia Johnson – Aspire 2 division
• Ella Krause – Showcase Level A division
• Ella Krause & Kendall Amick – Level A Duet division. 

The state championships were part of ten top-two finishes by P-CEP skaters in their respective events. .

On Sunday, PCEP’s B level team competed in the state finals against 15 strong teams. Facing tough competition, the team placed 6th in jumps, 8th in skating skills, and 12th in spins, resulting in a tie for 10th place overall.
